Stay safe, all around.

Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM)

Drive with confidence; our live video feature allows
you to check for blind spots based on your turn signal
direction, ensuring safer lane changes.

Surround View Monitor (SVM)

Maintain a bird’s-eye view of your vehicle’s
surroundings when reversing or parking.

Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)

Once you reach your destination and power off, rely on ROA
as your trusted companion. Remember to check the rear seats and
ensure that no one is left behind.

Safety Power Window

The power windows are equipped with safety sensors
that detect obstacles, signaling an automatic reversal
of direction to prevent accidents.

Protect yourself from
potential risks.

1. Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) warns you if there is a risk of collision with a rear side vehicle in the blind-spot while changing lanes. When forward exiting a parallel-parking spot, if there is a risk of collision with a vehicle approaching from behind, it automatically assists with emergency braking.

2. Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)

If driving above a certain speed and the driver leaves a lane without the turn signal switch being operated, it provides a warning. When a lane departure is detected, it automatically assists with steering to help prevent leaving the lane.

3. Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (PCA)

Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (PCA) provides a warning if there is a risk of collision with a rear object while reversing. After the warning, if the risk of collision increases, it automatically assists with emergency braking.

4. Lane Following Assist (LFA)

Lane Following Assist helps center the vehicle in the lane.

5. Smart Cruise Control (SCC)

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) helps maintain distance from the front vehicle and drive at a speed set by the driver. Automatically stops when the front vehicle stops and automatically starts when the front vehicle departs within a short time.

6. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA, Junction Turning)

Alerts the driver if the vehicle ahead is slowing down too quickly or if there is the potential for a forward collision with stationary vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists ahead, or approaching vehicles on the road, and activates the brakes in the event of an impending collision. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist also brakes automatically to avoid an impending collision with vehicles or cyclists ahead on the road or approaching from either side while making a left turn at an intersection.

e-Motion Drive: Electric motors provide excellent driving comfort thanks to improved performance technology. Vehicle vibration is controlled to ensure smooth acceleration, while handle performance has been improved to ensure stable cornering and turning.

e-Dynamic Drive

e-DTVC

During sharp turns, the brakes and motors work together to achieve torque vectoring in the steering direction, improving handling performance and driving safety.

e-Handling

Control the motor to ensure maximum grip during urgent steering, reducing vehicle slip and improving steering responsiveness and turning stability.

e-Traction

Control the drive torque to keep each tire traction optimal during turning to improve stable control and dynamic driving sensitivity.

e-Comfort Drive

e-Ride Gen1

When the vehicle crosses the speed bump, the motor controls the vehicle to minimize vehicle shaking to achieve a comfortable and reliable ride.

e-Ride Gen2

The motor is controlled so that the driver feels less shaking during acceleration, improving smooth acceleration, driving convenience, and riding comfort.

Optimal braking functions.

Smart Regenerative Braking. Analyzes the traffic condition and autonomously adjusts regenerative braking level for even more efficient driving experience.

Hybrid exclusive contents. The Infotainment system displays information about hybrid driving, such as electric motor usage and fuel efficiency.

The new TUCSON
Plug-in Hybrid.

The best of both worlds. Electric when you want it. Petrol when you need it. The new TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid offers the best of both worlds. And once the electric-only range is depleted, you can plug into a charging station – or just continue on with the petrol engine.

Energy flow – how Tucson
Plug-in Hybrid works.

Depending on the driving situation, the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid switches seamlessly between its petrol engine and electric motor, sometimes using both. The regenerative braking system charges the battery by using the electric motor to slow the car. The energy stored in the battery then powers the electric motor to help in acceleration, uphill driving and low speed driving. This complex energy flow is illustrated in these animations.

Start/ Low Speed.

When starting or driving at low speed, the electricity stored in the battery powers the electric motor to accelerate the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid.

Acceleration/Uphill.

During heavy acceleration or driving uphill, the electric motor and petrol engine work in parallel to maximise acceleration and minimise fuel consumption.

Constant Speed.

At constant speeds, power is provided by either the petrol engine or the electric motor, whichever is the most energy-efficient in that situation.

Deceleration/Downhill

The regenerative braking system charges the battery by using the electric motor to slow the car. When decelerating or driving downhill, the energy generated is stored in the battery.

Regenerative Braking.

When decelerating (e.g. through braking or when driving downhill) the electric motor operates as a generator and regenerates kinetic energy into electric energy, which is then stored in the battery.
