KONA Electric
You drive it! You electrify it!
Enter the Electrified World
Sometimes the best moments are the ones where the world doesn’t shape us – but we shape it. That’s the essence of You drive it. You define it – and the spirit of KONA. A dynamic combination of style and performance featuring the finest of cutting-edge technology, this compact SUV deserves a closer look.

Experience the best of both worlds
Combining roominess and head-turning good looks with an exceptional electric driving range of up to 449 km, the KONA Electric gives you the best of both worlds – with no compromises.
Flexible charging
Charge at home overnight or top up at a fast charge station on the road. KONA Electric comes with a wide range of flexible charging options. Its lithium-ion polymer battery pack provides lower memory sensitivity, excellent charge and discharge efficiency, as well as outstanding maximum output.

Adjustable recuperative braking
The system recuperates additional energy by using the electric motor to slow the vehicle instead of the brakes. The energy generated by the recuperative braking system is saved in the battery, helping KONA Electric maintain a healthy state of charge (SOC). The driver can easily adjust the level of recuperative braking through the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Distinctive and individual.

Roominess

Centre console
This is the biggest change inside the KONA Electric compared to the conventional KONA.

Sunroof
Let the sun in and enjoy more of the world around you with the optional sunroof.
*Sunroof available for single tone roof only.
Power, fun and efficiency

* The figures refer to the 64 kWh battery version. All figures are under WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light-Duty Vehicles Test
Procedure) regulations, which measure fuel, energy consumption, range and emissions in passenger vehicles in Europe.
This is designed to provide figures closer to real-world driving behaviour. According to the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle),
the driving range is 546km. NEDC is the current method of testing, which is being replaced with WLTP.
** Up to 80% state of charge, if charged at a 100 kW DC charging station.
Seriously fun to drive
Nobody ever said that electric mobility had to be boring. Lightning quick off the line thanks to the 395 Nm of instant torque delivered through the all-electric powertrain, this sporty SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 7.6 seconds in the 64 kWh version. You define your preferred range by selecting from two battery versions: the 39.2 kWh version with up to 289km on the WLTP cycle (345km NEDC converted) and the 64 kWh version with up to 449km on the WLTP cycle (546km NEDC converted) driving range on a single charge.

Electric Motor
Pick your power: the 39 kWh version comes with 100 kW (the equivalent of 136PS) with a top speed of 96 mph. The 64 kWh version offers 150 kW (204PS)
with a top speed of 104 mph.

Lithium-Ion Polymer battery
Hyundai decided to use a lithium-ion polymer battery pack for the Kona Electric instead of conventional nickel-metal hybrid batteries. This provides lower memory sensitivity and excellent charge and discharge efficiency, along with outstanding maximum output. A newly developed Battery Thermal Management system in KONA Electric also enables higher battery efficiency and a longer battery life. It’s water cooled through the connection to the A/C system and heated by an electric heating element.
Driving range and battery capacity
- Up to 180 miles / 39 kWh
- Up to 279 miles / 64 kWh
Electric driving technology
The carefully matched components of the electric powertrain have been engineered to provide excellent driving characteristics and a practical everyday driving range. The completely new platform of the Kona enables a space-saving integration of the battery packs without compromising roominess.
Charging

Rapid charging

Fast charging
When connected to a home wall box / AC charging station, it takes 9 hours 35 minutes to fully charge the 64KWh battery pack, and 6 hours 10 minutes for the shorter-range 39KWh battery pack. You can also connect to a regular household power socket using the ICCB-cable (in-cable control box) for charging times of 19 and 31 hours respectfully. KONA Electric comes equipped with a 7.2 kW on-board charger, which converts AC power from the wall socket to DC power that charges the battery in the vehicle.
