What’s an electric vehicle?
The IONIQ 5 is a so-called battery electric vehicle or BEV for short. All-electric vehicles such as IONIQ 5 don’t use any combustible fuel and therefore emit zero tailpipe emissions. And because they also don’t have a clutch or gears, costly maintenance is reduced – and acceleration off the line is fast thanks to plenty of instant torque. That smooth and fast acceleration makes for a very dynamic and exciting drive.
Zero tailpipe emissions.
Since the IONIQ 5 doesn’t burn petrol or diesel, it produces zero tailpipe emissions – while providing a driving range of up to 481 km.
No oil changes. Less maintenance.

Inside the IONIQ 5, the lines between living space and moving space are being blurred. Our new EV platform gave us the opportunity to re-create the interior as a whole new in-car experience. A larger flat floor, highly adjustable front seats that can be fully reclined, and a flexible centre console that can be moved throughout the cabin, make for an extraordinary experience.

The sleek modular dashboard features two integrated displays: a 12.25” full- touch infotainment screen and a 12.25” digital cluster for a high tech look that comes standard.
Column type shift-by-wire.
Everything you need right at your fingertips. The elegant rotary type shifter located on the steering column. Operation is quick, intuitive and precise.
Paddle shifters.
Enjoy fingertip control. You can easily adjust the level of regenerative braking through the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
The perfect place for a power nap.
Enjoy premium comfort with two fully reclining relaxation seats in the front. Lean all the back for a refreshing break while charging – at the push of a single button.
Sliding centre console.
Customize the interior layout to your needs. You can slide the centre console back to the rear seats, so your kids can use it as a picnic table or desk.
Power sliding rear seats.
There’s plenty of comfort for your backseat passengers too. The rear seats can be manually reclined and power-slide backwards and forwards up to 135 mm.
Back seat comfort.
Second-row passengers also can enjoy centre console features, such as cup holders, a 15-watt fast wireless phone charger and USB ports.
Eco-friendly interior and colours inspired by nature.
Sustainability is at the centre of IONIQ’s brand vision, which can be found throughout the interior in eco-friendly materials and nature-inspired colors. The seats, headliner, door trim, floor and arm rest use eco-friendly, sustainably sourced materials such as: recycled PET bottles, plant-based plastic yarns and natural wool yarns, eco-processed leather with plant-based extracts, and bio paint with plant extracts.

Innovative use of environmentally friendly materials.
Environmentally friendly materials are used extensively in the IONIQ 5, like eco-processed leather and recycled yarn. What’s more, raw materials extracted from sugar cane are used on the headliner, carpet and seat covers. A solution that is both recyclable and beautiful. The innovative use of natural materials is another contribution to sustainability in our manufacturing processes, making the IONIQ 5 less reliant on oil-based products.
Recycled bottles turned to fabric.
For each IONIQ 5, up to 32 plastic bottles are shredded into plastic chips. Those chips are melted and spun into thread that makes an inviting, woven upholstery fabric.
Plants turned to components for seats and carpets.
The seat, headlining and carpet fabric includes bio components extracted from sugar cane and corn, while leather used in the IONIQ 5’s interior is dyed using flaxseed oil.
Flowers turned to paint.
The IONIQ 5’s doors and crash pads are painted with bio paint that includes oil extracted from plants such as rape flowers and corn.

High performance 800 volt technology.
IONIQ 5 is one of the first production vehicles with an 800V battery system. It charges ultra-fast, performs consistently high, and is optimised for weight and space.

IONIQ 5 is the first vehicle built on Hyundai’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This dedicated battery electric vehicle platform enables faster charging, increased driving range, more interior space and better handling. The battery pack’s position within the wheelbase ensures ideal weight distribution between the front and rear and a low centre of gravity for improved handling performance.

In the space freed up by removing the internal combustion engine, we have mounted the driving motor low down. The battery is also placed low down within the chassis allowing ideal weight distribution between front and rear and a low center of gravity for improved handling performance and a more stable high-speed experience.

E-GMP embraces unique EV design characteristics such as short overhangs and a long wheelbase with collision safety, maximised passenger space, and battery safety.

And using a converter that plugs into the bidirectional exterior charging port, you can power devices up to 3.6 kW even when the vehicle is turned off.

Surround View Monitor (SVM).
Tight parking garage? Small car wash? No problem. The surround view monitor gives you a 360-degree view of the area to make manoeuvring confined spaces easy and safer.
Enhanced safety with 7-airbags.
The IONIQ 5 features enhanced safety with 7-airbags including a driver’s seat centre-side airbag to diminish head injuries caused by passengers colliding.
Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM).
Now you can see the rearward left and right-hand side views on a screen in the digital cluster. The cameras are activated by the use of the turn indicator during lane changes.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection (FCA).
Sensing the road ahead with radar and a camera, the FCA system automatically brakes when it detects sudden braking by the car ahead, or pedestrians and bicycles on the road.
Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA).
Using two radar sensors in the lower rear bumper, the system warns you of traffic in the blind spot area. Should you set the turn indicator in such a situation, it will sound an acoustic alert and brake to prevent collision.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA).
When reversing out of areas with low visibility, the system not only warns you if vehicles approach from the side – it also applies the brakes automatically.
Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA).
If an obstacle is detected via the rear-view camera or rear ultrasonic sensors, PCA will display a warning and, if necessary, apply the brakes.
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).
Uses the front camera to monitor the lines of the road. In case of an unintended lane departure, it will warn you and can apply counter steering torque to guide the car back to the lane.
Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC w/ S&G).
More safety and less stress. Maintains a set distance to the vehicle ahead, automatically reducing or increasing speed to a pre-set limit. In “stop & go” traffic, the set distance is maintained.
Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA).
The IONIQ 5 can remotely back into and drive forward out of a parking spot by itself at the touch of a button on the smart key.
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).
This semi-autonomous driving features recognises road speed signs and adjusts vehicle speed to match the speed limit (when activated).
Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC).
Utilises the state-of-the-art navigation system to anticipate upcoming curves or straights on highways and adjusts speed for safer driving.
Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
Monitors the driver’s attention level while driving. Provides a warning when signs of driver inattentiveness are detected, and recommends a rest if needed.
